About

Farmers and ranchers know the value of investing in the future. One meaningful way to support the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum and preserve the legacy of agriculture is through a Gift of Grain.

By donating a portion of your grain before it's sold, you can make a lasting impact, supporting our mission while potentially reducing your taxable income.

Why Give Grain?

Instead of writing a check, consider delivering grain directly to the elevator and designating a portion to the SDSU Foundation for the Agricultural Heritage Museum. Once delivered, you never miss it—but your gift goes on to educate, preserve, and celebrate South Dakota’s rich agricultural history.

How It Works

  1. Deliver grain to your local elevator.

  2. Request that a set number of bushels be transferred to the SDSU Foundation.

  3. The Foundation authorizes the sale and receives the proceeds.

  4. You receive confirmation of the bushels transferred—simple and impactful.

Benefits to You

  • Reduce taxable income by gifting grain before it's sold.

  • Create a charitable legacy while continuing to support the land and values you believe in.

  • Eligible gifts can even be part of a charitable trust, offering you income in retirement while supporting the museum’s future.

Ready to Make a Gift of Grain?

Your contribution helps preserve South Dakota’s agricultural legacy and educates future generations about the importance of our rural roots. If you're interested in making a gift of grain, please contact us or your local elevator to begin the simple transfer process.
