About

Our places and traditions, along with the extraordinary people who fuel them, are what makes South Dakota State University a bold and premier pillar of education. Our places and traditions bring meaning and celebration to the university and help to form a bond between our students and those in the community. Our rich traditions help to preserve our history and connect the entire Jackrabbit family across generations. Our places offer an unparalleled environment of learning and adventure, of opportunity and growth, and above all, a true sense of home. At SDSU, we belong to a place unlike anywhere else. We come from an unforgettable past and we dream of a bold future, built on a unique yellow and blue legacy.

Today your gift can impact places and traditions like:

  • Hilton M. Briggs Library to continue to be an invaluable learning and research center that inspires academic excellence, creative scholarship, student engagement, and lifelong curiosity.
  • McCrory Gardens to continue to connect people and plants through education, discovery, research, and enjoyment of the natural and built landscape.
  • South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum to inspire a passion for the diverse history, culture, and science of agriculture in South Dakota.
  • South Dakota Art Museum to continue inspiring creativity, connecting people, and enriching lives through art!
  • Little International to continue to serve both high school and college students alike. The exposition provides a fun and competitive opportunity for students to develop and refine skills essential for lifelong success in agriculture.
  • Or whichever places or traditions speak most to you!

Wherever you choose to donate today, your gift will help to unlock challenge goals and truly make a difference for South Dakota State University.

 Venance Lengkeek McCrory Challenge

After a lifelong career in agronomy, Ven Lengkeek is all about growth. It’s no wonder that the 1971 wildlife and fisheries major is challenging us to support McCrory Gardens on One Day for STATE! Ven was employed in a work study position during his years as a Jackrabbit student, and he’s remained a lifelong advocate for the gardens ever since. When just 25 donors give to McCrory Gardens on One Day for STATE, Ven and his wife, Deb, will give $25,000 to support McCrory Gardens. Let’s join the Lengkeeks in growing support from the ground up for one of SDSU’s most beloved places on campus!

Lynn and Diane Anderson Challenge for the South Dakota Art Museum

Lynn and Diane Anderson are no strangers to the art of philanthropy, having loyally given to SDSU since 1987. Diane once served on the South Dakota Art Museum’s Board of Trustees, and she continues to lead by example when it comes to supporting the museum. When 25 donors make a gift to the South Dakota Art Museum, Lynn and Diane will give $7,500. The Andersons have bold dreams for the future of the museum, so let’s dream boldly right along with them!

Your philanthropy allows us to build pivotal places and transformational traditions for this university. Thank you for investing in the bold future of SDSU!
