About the SDSU Cheerleading Team

The 2022-2023 SDSU Cheerleading Nationals Team is made up of 25 athletes. We are led by Coach Quiana Pardee and Coach Isabelle Raabe.

We dedicate 15-20 hours each week to maintain our roles on the team, including exercising in the weight room three times per week, completing two-hour practices at least twice a week, and cheering on the Jacks at football and basketball games, in addition to other team appearances. We also train rigorously for our national competition in Orlando, Florida, competing against other D1A schools in the game day division. We devote countless hours to athletics and the team overall to represent South Dakota State University at the national level.

Why we are fundraising

SDSU Cheerleading is an unsponsored athletic team. Every year, we fundraise nonstop for the season, and, this year in particular, we are raising funds for our trip to nationals in Orlando, Florida in January 2023. To continue representing South Dakota State at a national level, we must fundraise for the many expenses to travel and perform. This includes costs for anything from airfare, hotels, transportation, props, uniforms, team shirts, choreography, and more.

An opportunity like this brings great personal and professional rewards to our team, but it comes at a steep cost. Despite the necessary fundraising, this experience is well worth our hard work. It’s the highlight of our season, as we are recognized among top D1 colleges and strive to reach this top-tier competition. Competing at nationals brings new talent to our team, as many high school cheerleaders enjoy the competition aspect of our sport, and appearances like this boost our recruitment. It also sets us apart as a competitive sports team, putting SDSU on the map as a respected and premier organization.

Each athlete must raise $2,300 to compete on our nationals’ team. This is an added pressure, as we balance our time and energy between academics and cheerleading. Our goal is to ease the financial burden of competing, helping us to succeed in the classroom and in the competition.

The SDSU Cheer Team is forever grateful for the support of the yellow and blue community. Without your generosity, we would not be able to do what we love, cheer for the Jackrabbits, and represent South Dakota State University to the best of our ability. Go Jacks!

Freshman, Lauren Ruhlman

Hi friends and family! Most people don’t know that the SDSU cheer team is completely self funded and we rely heavily on fundraising to be able to do what we do. I am halfway towards my national goal which allows me to compete January 13-15th in Orlando, FL. Last years team placed 4th. We put in a lot of hours and sacrificing very early mornings and very late nights so that we can place higher at UCA College Nationals and to proudly represent our team, alumni, and SDSU. We also dedicate around 20 hours a week to practices, games, conditioning, lifting and other events that we attend. I would really appreciate any support, even just sharing the post helps! You can use the link below to donate and if you let me know you donated, the proceeds will go directly towards my national goal otherwise we are still running our apparel order which a portion of the sales goes towards personal fundraising goals! Anything truly does help and I am blown away by the support I have already received 🥰🥰 (Also, any fans in the Sioux Falls area, we will be preforming our nationals routine at the Pentagon Thursday, December 15th when the SDSU WBB plays against South Carolina!)
